Technical Aspects while writing a research Paper - 3) Citations using References Tab & Bibliography.

 

v  Citing a researchers work – Using References and Bibliography in APA format:

A good researcher always acknowledges the findings of other researcher and cites in his paper. This system is used worldwide while writing any articles, papers, etc. APA being one of the most used formats or styles while writing a paper, we use this style in all our research papers. It can be easily done with all information in hand.

                    Before starting ensure you have the necessary details of a research paper which can be             found on the cover page of the paper. Then follow the below mentioned steps.

 

Step 1: Click on the ‘REFERENCES Ribbon’ on your ‘MS Word’, and locate the ‘Citations & Bibliography field.’

Step 2: Click on the ‘Insert Citation’ icon and click on ‘Add New Source…’.

 

Step 3: A Dialogue box appears which asks you various information about your research paper, you need to fill all those information as mentioned in your paper.

{FYI: When writing a research paper you may mostly use BOOK, Journal Article, Article in a periodical and report, types of sources. You can although use different types, just ensure in what does you material fit into.}

Step 4: Click the okay button and you have successfully cited the Literature.

 

FYI: After Citing, Bibliography (list of all referred papers) must be there on your paper individually!

 

Step 5: Click on the REFERENCES Ribbon again in order to insert the bibliography field.

 

Step 6: Click on the Bibliography icon and select the ‘Bibliography’ option. A list of all cited authors and published material will appear at the end of the page.

FYI: I personally recommend you to first cite all the authors that is from step 1 to step 4 for all your referred articles, and then at the end when you complete all citations, follow steps 5 & 6 to insert bibliography field, which will be a hassle free job for you.
