What do you have to do in research - Basics of research methods Part II

What do you have to do in research?

Understanding the basics of research, and undergoing it may seem a daunting task to you. In fact, many tend to misinterpret it. Here’s how you can take a gist on carrying on research study without much hurdles. Also, you can improve many life skills accordingly in the long term.

But Understanding some basic things are quite important!!

·
The basic and foremost thing to remember is the Purpose of Research!

A Research Study is essentially detailed information of your Creative Ideas you recommend based on what you have learned from many!

The first step you take is to identify the loopholes in the subject matter and then state what your objectives are. Your purpose of the study should be crystal clear to you, the first! Only knowing the area of your study does not justify your role as a researcher and may not prove efficient considering your life skills.

·         The primary thing you need to do while undergoing a research study is to study the findings of other researchers and describe in your words concerning what have you found out.

An Ancient Ideology:

‘When you take data, ideas from one source you commit plagiarism, But when you refer 25 you do a research.’

Eventually, you may think that, while referring to 20-25 sources you have done your research, which is not the actual responsibility of a researcher. Even if you are a student and tend to only do one project-based research, still it is your responsibility to work on it and justify your research by adding your ideas to it.

Take as many sources as you wish to take. More resources, more variations on the topics you get, and also an eagle view of your topic can be achieved!

·         Absorbing and evaluating the source material, try to infuse your idea!

After searching for reliable sources for your study, it’s time to refine the data with your ideas and knowledge. Write all the points (factors) that directly affect your study. These points will act as variables of your study, and you can formulate a problem based on those points too!

Consider your friends, relatives, parents, and teachers and try to talk to them on the consent matter. This will help you widen the scope of your study. Remember, it is completely okay if you do not have any idea of a certain topic, but by consulting the right source, resource persons, etc. you can develop, just a perfect outline of your study.

So to summon up! You have to do three major steps:

  1. Always remember the purpose of your study!
  2. Study what others say about the topic, discover more and more sources.
  3. Infuse your very own ideology.

*      Important Tip:

  1.   Always read related topic news, refreshed contents available online or on printed modes available. The latest source you possess, more are the chances for you to criticize the topic!
  2.   Collect at least 20 sources (Research Papers) for your study up to 30 from different resources, publishers, and categories of the same. More variety in your references attracts sound knowledge and maybe just the perfect suggestion for your topic. You can easily find any research paper, just find two or three papers online and rest you can get links from the downloaded paper at the bottom portion named ‘Bibliography’
  3.  You can include sources in form of reports, books, articles, periodical, statutory reports, statements, etc.

You can read more points on how to go for research independently on the following link, which is also a part of my blogs.

Readout these basic parts, and let me know if you face any problems in your research!

Thank you for your patient reading!

What is Research, How are student's life impacted by it! 4 reasons you should go for UG research.

“Research”

What was your first reaction when you studied the law of motion, or the law of gravity, or the law of conventional energies? Many of us seemed to be equally confused with the topic, weren’t we? But you may have a gist that these things were only possible because somebody search for its reason to happen. We call it as Research!  But you may be amazed to know that without research mankind wouldn’t have developed to the extent they are today. Humans have developed widely by learning from their mistakes. And most probably research is what it means, that is to learn from their mistakes and problems and importantly to redefine changes.

Being a researcher by yourself is a great career at any individual levels. What about having one at a student level? What if while pursuing a specialized course or a general education, you also think to undergo any research study?

4 reasons that you should get into UG Research:

  1.  Career Goals: When an individual studies a topic, deeply and thoroughly, he gets into that topic. He gets the deep insights to it, gets the reason behind that topic, viz. why, what, how, who, when, etc. As a student studies through his curriculum, he gets an opportunity while researching to find the difficulties in any area, and hence polishes the reasoning ability of an individual.
  2. Self-enhancing skills: When a student tries to find answers to any problems, they start discovering the unused capabilities of a themselves, hence enabling their critical and analytical thinking which a bonus point on your CV is when you look for employment.
  3. Develop Corporate demanding skills: Your resume may be wonderful with your academic qualification, but it looks quite professional and highlighted when you have an extra-curricular activity which is related to your specialized study that you are into. Remember, your academic qualifications is dependent on your skills and proficiency.
  4. Contribute to the subjective field: While you find problems relating to the subjective field you study, you eventually suggest some solutions to problems which can be formed to a better conclusion. Eventually you may try up in suggesting some useful suggestions and therefore contributing to the subjective field.

As you start experiencing research in your UG life you will find many opportunities in life which may help you to upbuild a good personality!
